The United States Dog Agility Association (USDAA) promotes the international standards of dog agility. For everything you need to know about news, events, rules and regulations, contact the USDAA. With more than 25,000 members (and 200 different breeds of dog, it’s not only for sheepdogs you know) the USDAA represents over 100 affiliated groups which together organize more than 400 events every year. In short, everybody who is interested in dog agility needs to find out more about the USDAA.
North American Dog Agility Council (NADAC) are also big in the world of dog agility. Formed in 1993, the NADAC provides the dogs and handlers of North America with a fast, enjoyable and safe form of the thing they love the best, dog agility. They have special classes for juniors and veterans as well as loads of fun games for you and your dog to enjoy together. The NADAC dog agility really does have something for everybody. Check out the website to find out about rules, events, registration forms, judges, clubs and a whole lot more.
American Kennel Club (AKC) are dedicated to only purebred dogs (mixed breeds can also take part in dog agility, in fact, they do very well at it) but they also promote responsible dog ownership and loads of advice about dog training and how to find the right pooch for your needs. Different breeds do have different characteristics so this website is well worth a visit.
Great Lakes Border Collie Rescue (GLBCR) rescues, retrains and rehomes lots of Border Collies who have, for reasons beyond their control found themselves in need of rescue. Border Collies do make great agility dogs, but at the GLBCR they want to educate people who think they might be able to offer a home to a Border Collie and promote responsible guardianship, care and training information. If you’re thinking about getting a Border Collie to take part in dog agility, talk to them first.
Agility Club of San Diego is a non profit organization which is dedicated to the promotion of dog agility in San Diego and the surrounding area. They organize trials and classes for competitors all over Southern California, so if that’s your “neck of the woods”, definitely get in touch.
Clean Run publishes a monthly magazine dedicated solely to dog agility. This website is also full of useful information about exercises, it has a calendar as well as loads of books and information to help you on your way. Why not subscribe to the magazine to keep you really well informed.
